Offering real-time 4K digital signal processing and down-conversion to HD, Sony’s BPU-4000 Baseband Processing Unit is designed to work with the Sony HDC-4300. It features parallel processing, and when connected to your camera by optical cable, it can provide 4K and HD simultaneously. Optional software enables the HD Cutout function allowing you to create an HD signal from a portion of the sensor. The BPU-4000 also enables high frame rate recording in HD, up to 8X super slow motion when you purchase an optional software package.
HD Cutout
You can select either Zoom & Perspective mode or Simple HD mode when using HD Cutout. Although similar to cropping the sensor, HD Cutout allows you to keep the camera in a fixedposition, and any portion of the captured image can be cropped to provide a close-upHD image to viewers as if the camera had been panned.
In Zoom & Perspective mode, one portion can be cut out while performing a perspectivetransformation, according to the lens focal length. In Simple HD mode, twoportions can be cut out at the same time. Sony’s cut-outs and zooms giveviewers a surprisingly clear image. The cutout region can be controlled with a mouse or other devices connected tothe optional controllers such as the CNA-1 camera control network adapter. The cutoutimages and the 4K full-source image can be output simultaneously from theBPU-4000. The HD images down-converted from the 4K full-source image canbe output from the BPU-4000, and a wire frame indicating the cutout region can be displayed on the signal from the BPU-4000.Optional (not included) software is required for the HD Cutout function to operate
